This week at Horsepool Farm, we had a lovely session grooming Blue, our Dartmoor pony!

Grooming is one of Blue’s favourite activities, and it’s a wonderful way to bond with him while keeping him healthy. In winter, grooming is especially important—it helps remove mud, loose hair, and debris from his thick coat, keeping his skin clean and healthy. It also stimulates blood circulation, which helps him stay warm and comfortable during the colder months.

One of our Poolers even beautifully plaited Blue’s tail during their first go—a fantastic achievement! Our grooming sessions are calming and therapeutic, not just for Blue but for everyone involved. Spending time caring for our animals is such a rewarding experience!
